Client Objectives:
A much-needed new premises for Dr Cakebread & Partners. In addition to this, NHS Bedfordshire wanted accommodation for the provision of Community Health Services and Outpatient Services. This enables some hospital based services to be provided closer to patients.
Development Solution:
This 2,117 sq m primary care centre development created accommodation for:
- Dr Cakebread & Partners (a nine-doctor dispensing practice),
- District nursing,
- Therapy services with physio suite,
- Minor surgery,
- Community dental service,
- Outpatient services facility,
- A base for the local out-of-hours service,
- Mobile docking facility,
- Car parking for 118 spaces.


Outcome:
The site was purchased from a charitable trust and involved negotiating the release of fields from a tenant farmer, including buying some unwanted barley seed.
The project started on site in September 2009 and was completed in March 2011. On completion, the practice manager Viv Kitch Jameson said: “Superb! We are delighted with our new premises.”
